Global, Early-Stage Technology Investor
Under the direction of Chairman Terry Matthews, Wesley Clover builds businesses. The focus has been consistent for more than four decades – found or fund successful technology companies, either independently or in partnership with other investors. The model for providing start-ups with a better-than-average chance of success goes beyond lead investment, offering access to experienced resources and mentors, extended portfolio products and intellectual property, lead customer opportunities, and global channel and partner relationships.
L-SPARK Accelerator
Company investments span the globe. Several are located near the Wesley Clover headquarters in Ottawa, Canada. Also located there is L-SPARK, the technology start-up Accelerator which Wesley Clover formed in partnership with local government and other parties in 2014, and where the team continues to work with passionate entrepreneurs to grow their start-ups into revenue-generating, investable companies. More than 50 teams have progressed through the nine-month, hands-on mentorship programs and demand continues to grow. L-SPARK has also expanded its partnerships to run Enterprise SaaS, Autonomous Vehicle and Secure IoT Accelerators.
Alacrity Global Ecosystem
Another Wesley Clover initiative, the Alacrity Global Ecosystem of technology partnership funds has been or is being deployed in at least ten countries. Mature funds have active companies in local portfolios, and newer locations are formalizing the partnerships and operations required to start first cohorts. Each fund takes the proven, flexible investment and management model developed by Wesley Clover and adapts it to meet local requirements. In each case, the objective is to bring local, like-minded investors, government organizations, academic institutions and entrepreneurs together to create successful, scalable local technology companies.
